He receives this gift on one condition: Arthur must not open the metal door of the vault, but the doctor violates this condition and discovers the terrible secret of the lighthouse, and finds himself led on a journey through time for 24 years that prevents him from sharing life with Lisa, the woman who He loves her and works as a trained actress.

In fact, the two lovers will only be able to meet one day a year, and it is a fixed and imposed rule that must be submitted and adhered to, despite its cruelty, which pushes them to run a frantic race in the corners of "New York" to get rid of these conditions.
