Perhaps the novel is the literary genre that is most suitable for expressing the movement of history and its makers, but rather to reformulate it and read it consciously. If you understand the past, it will guide you to solving the mysteries of the present and perhaps sensing the future as well. In "The Shadow Government," Munther Al-Qabbani sheds light on the role of some clandestine movements operating in the shadows and their impact on decision-making, whether this decision is political or economic, in the provisions of the novel. History and the present go hand in hand, and they repeat each other. Between the landing of Naim Al Wazzan's plane at Casablanca airport at the beginning of the novel and its take-off to Malaysia at the end, there are two parallel narrative paths. The first track is a historical track that takes place in the Turkish city of Istanbul in the early twentieth century, and its hero is the grandfather, Khalil Al-Wazzan. The second track is a contemporary track that takes place in a non-Arab city at the end of the twentieth century, and its hero is the grandson of Naim Al-Wazzan. And between the two tracks, there is a large number of stressful events and facts, and the bleak reality that throws its weight on personalities and nations. In the novel, the incident of the killing of three historians in mysterious circumstances and in the same manner and at the same time, in three different cities, constitutes a hot dramatic starting point in the work, especially since the three historians were looking at one topic, which is the role of some secret Jewish movements in weakening the caliphate and overthrowing the Sultan Abd al-Hamid II in 1902, through the Union and Progress Society, which indicates that the murderer may be the same, in order to prevent the disclosure of some historical facts. The killing of these three was because they crossed the red lines in the eyes of these movements. After Dr. Abdelkader Banuzani, a professor of Moroccan history, confided to his student Naim El-Wazzan, a Saudi businessman, that he was working on a book with his friend Ahmed Abdel-Warth, a professor of Egyptian history, and after that, the Canadian/Jewish journalist confided to his friend, the Egyptian journalist Talaat Nagati, that Muhammad Javed Pasha, a member of the (Council of Envoys), was the same as Zvi Haim, the grandfather of Israel’s foreign minister. The three are killed in the same circumstances, with the same history, and in the same way!?
