The novel discusses the extent to which family disintegration affects the life and psyche of the child, and the resulting behavioral problems. This model is represented in the novel by Reem El-Mesiri, who suffered after the separation of the father and mother and each of them went on their way to leave her alone, which affected her personal life and her behavior towards others. She tries to transform herself, and succeeds in doing so, as she is a shy introvert, who walks with a humped head, to become the cover girl of Vogue magazine, and then a first model in the fashion house of Chanel.
