Emptiness

Today, as I celebrate twenty years since discovering my passion for writing, I present to you my newest literary creation: a theatrical trilogy that brings together three different worlds—classical plays, heritage-inspired plays, and plays written for young audiences. Three separate volumes, each carrying unique texts, yet all rooted in the stage.

In this volume, I share with you ‘Adam’, a collection of theatrical works that embrace the spirit of human rebellion—a reflection of the eternal defiance that binds me to my pen, a bond that will never be broken. This text holds a special place in my heart, for it was through it that I had the honor of shaking hands with the godfather of Arab theatre, His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, after winning the Sharjah Award for Theatrical Writing in 2023. That moment, when I touched his hand, felt like a dream I never wished to wake from.

Here, you will encounter a pen that carries rebellion within its lines, through four plays (Between Them – The Call – The Point – Adam). I have always believed that no true theatre-maker can exist without a trace of rebellion flowing in their blood. I believe in the freedom of expression, and theatre has always been our breathing space as playwrights. In my imagination, among my characters, I have roamed freely, never recognizing the presence of censorship, nor imagining the whip disguised as a censor’s scissors, or committees turned into executioners.

Some of these texts were once rejected, only to return later adorned with awards. It is this journey—from rejection to recognition—that inspired me to bring them back to life in this volume.
